A New Zealand politician has made headlines after participating in a high-level meeting from her bathroom, with her dirty laundry clearly visible in the background.
Incident During Meeting
Councilor Jo Galer joined a Dunedin City Council meeting on Monday, prompting laughter from one of her colleagues. In a video that has since gone viral on YouTube, Mayor Sophie Barker humorously suggested, «Maybe you should move the camera,» to which Galer responded, «Can you see me? You can see my dirty laundry, you can see me.»
During her speech, which focused on local government reform, a mysterious dark figure was spotted behind a door in the background, leading to various comments online questioning, «Who was in the shower? Was it her partner? Did she have someone held hostage?»
Background in Dunedin
This is not the first time the Dunedin City Council has made the news for unusual circumstances. In 2020, former councilor David Benson-Pope was caught in a compromising situation during a Zoom call while dusting his office, dressed in a suit jacket but with his legs exposed.
As of now, AFP has reached out to Galer for comments on the incident.
