The Nepalese government has made an urgent appeal for specialized assistance from neighboring countries to bolster ongoing search and rescue efforts following devastating floods that have left nearly 3,000 people missing.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government outlined the specific types of aid required, which include:
- Support in opening tunnels where individuals are believed to be trapped.
- Technological assistance to locate survivors in the affected areas.
- Rapid forensic and DNA analysis capabilities.
- Mortuary facilities for the proper storage of deceased individuals.
In response to this crisis, an 11-member specialized technical reconnaissance team from India has been mobilized to assist with tunnel rescues. Additionally, a tunnel rescue team from China is expected to arrive shortly to provide further support.
